Metal Gates
Custom metal gates, fabricated and installed in Brownsville and across the Rio Grande Valley.
Driveway gates, security gates, ornamental gates, and gate motor installs for residential, HOA, and commercial properties. Built in our Brownsville shop. Installed by our crew. 38 years of work behind every weld.

Service Overview
Gates that secure, signal, and last.
A gate does three jobs at once. It secures the property. It tells visitors who lives or works there. And it has to keep doing both, every day, through Brownsville heat, Gulf-coast rain, and a thousand opening and closing cycles a year. A bad gate fails at any one of those and you notice immediately. A good gate disappears into the property and just works.
We’ve been fabricating and installing gates across the Rio Grande Valley for 38 years — driveway gates, ornamental entrance gates, security gates, sliding gates, and full motor installs. Every gate is built in our Brownsville shop, finished in our shop, and installed by our own crew. We don’t subcontract the welding, we don’t subcontract the install, and we don’t sell gates we wouldn’t put on our own homes.

Why Torres Metals
What you get when you hire us.
38 years in the trade
Two generations of metalwork. Family-owned, owner-operated. The same name on the truck has been on every Torres Metals invoice since 1988.
Built & installed in-house
Fabrication, finishing, and install under one roof. No subcontracted welders, no third-party motor crew. Our shop, our crew, our accountability.
Motor installs done right
Swing gate operators, sliding gate motors, and full automation packages. We size the motor to the gate weight, run the wiring, and tune the limits before we leave.
Built to your property
Real driveways have slope, settle, and odd dimensions. We measure on site, scribe to fit, and install square — even when the opening isn’t.
Gulf-coast finishes
Salt air destroys cheap finishes. Every gate leaves the shop primed and powder-coated or painted with finishes built for the RGV climate.
We come back
Motor adjustments, hinge tweaks, finish touch-ups — we show up. Local shop, real phone number, and the same crew on every callback.
Got a driveway opening to fill? Let’s talk dimensions and design.
Our Process
From driveway measurement to final tune.
Step 01
Site visit & design
We measure your opening, check slope and clearance, discuss design preferences, and confirm if you want a motor — and what kind.
Step 02
Quote & drawings
Itemized quote with materials, finish, motor specs, and lead time. Drawings for your approval before we cut a single piece of steel.
Step 03
Shop fabrication
Cut, welded, and finished in our Brownsville shop. Powder coat or paint applied before the gate is loaded for delivery.
Step 04
Install & tune
Set posts, hang the gate, install motor and wiring, program limits, test cycles. We don’t leave until it opens, closes, and locks the way it should.
Gate Types
What we fabricate.
- Driveway gates (single & double swing) — residential driveway gates in iron, steel, or ornamental designs, sized to your opening with optional motor automation.
- Sliding gates & rolling gates — for tight driveways, commercial properties, and locations where a swing path won’t work. Track-mounted with sliding gate operators.
- Ornamental entrance gates — design-driven gates with custom panel work, scrollwork, monograms, or HOA-grade signage integration.
- Security & commercial gates — heavy-duty steel gates for commercial properties, industrial sites, fenced lots, and high-security applications.
- HOA & community gates — entrance gates, perimeter access, and ornamental signage gates for private communities and HOA boards.
- Side-yard & pedestrian gates — walk-through gates, side yard access, pool fence gates, and ornamental garden gates.
- Gate motor installation — full motor installation for new gates and motor retrofits on existing gates. Swing operators, sliding operators, wiring, programming, and testing.
- Gate repair & refinishing — hinge repair, weld repair, motor servicing, sandblast and refinish, and full restoration on aging gates.

FAQ
Common questions about metal gates.
How much does a custom driveway gate cost in Brownsville?
Pricing depends on the gate width, design complexity, materials, finish, and whether you want a motor. A simple single-swing residential driveway gate is one budget; a 16-foot ornamental double-swing with motor and automation is another. We don’t quote on guesswork — every quote is itemized after a site visit. Call (956) 831-9067 or request a quote and we’ll send detailed pricing within one business day.
Do you install gate motors and automation?
Yes — full motor installation is a regular part of our gate work. We install swing gate operators for single and double swing gates, sliding gate motors for sliding and rolling gates, and we handle the wiring, control panels, remote programming, and limit setting. Motor installs work on new gates we fabricate, or as a retrofit on an existing gate that needs to be motorized.
Swing gate or sliding gate — which should I get?
Depends on the property. Swing gates work great when you have room for the gate to swing inward without hitting cars, slope, or landscaping. Sliding gates are better when the driveway is on a slope, when there’s no swing clearance, or for commercial sites with high traffic. We’ll walk through the trade-offs at the site visit and recommend the right one for your driveway.
How long does fabrication and installation take?
A standard residential driveway gate runs 3-5 weeks from quote acceptance to install — fabrication, finishing, and motor install included. Custom ornamental gates with detailed panel work or HOA-quality signage take longer. Motor-only retrofit installs on an existing gate are typically 1-2 weeks. We’ll give you a real timeline at quote.
Can you fix or refinish an existing gate?
Yes. Hinge replacement, weld repair, broken motor diagnosis, sandblast and refinish, full repaint — we handle all of it. We’ve done refinish work on existing gates for homeowners across Brownsville, including a recent gate and fence repaint for the Campos Household. If your gate sags, sticks, rusts, or just needs a fresh look, give us a call.
Do you work with HOAs and property managers?
Yes. We’ve worked directly with HOA boards on community entrance gates and ornamental signage gates — including a recent ornamental gate package for the Villa de la Resaca HOA in Brownsville. Property managers, board members, and community developers can call us directly. We’re comfortable with the bid process, board approvals, and phased install schedules.
What materials and finishes do you use?
Mild steel is our standard. We can also fabricate in galvanized steel for extra corrosion resistance, or with aluminum and stainless components on request. Finishes include shop primer plus oil-based or automotive-grade paint, or full powder coat for the longest service life. The Gulf coast eats cheap finishes, so every gate we deliver is finished to handle salt air.
What if my gate motor fails after install?
Call us. The motor itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty. Our installation work carries our warranty — written into every quote. If the gate stops opening, sticks, drifts out of alignment, or the motor needs adjustment, we come back. We’ve serviced gate motors for clients across Brownsville, including recent work for the Hinojosa and Zepeda residences.
